| Evening Course: Photography: From Talbot to Testino |
|||||||
Six-week evening course on the following Tuesday evenings:
As the field of photography gains increased recognition within the art
world, this course provides a foundation in the history of the medium,
from the experiments carried out in the nineteenth century by
pioneers such as Daguerre and Talbot to the work of their celebrated
successors, Beaton, Horst and Testino.
The series of lectures examines the way in which new methods of photography have been utilised by key practitioners, tracing its development from a simple means of recording the physical world to its current status as an influential and moving art form in its own right. Fee: £375 (£350 if booked by 11 January 2010) To book a place, call Martin Williams on +44 (0)20 7462 3249 or download our booking form, indicating which course you would like to take and email back to us at shortcourses@sothebysinstitute.com Image: Cecil Beaton, Self Portrait, 1938, Cecil Beaton (1904-1980).
