Sotheby's Institute of Art – London offers a number of full-time fifteen-week semester courses, some of which can also be taken on a part-time basis. Different courses are offered in the autumn and spring semesters, but each combines academic study with an insight into the professional art world and takes full advantage of the rich cultural resources that London offers.

These courses do not require any previous knowledge or formal qualifications but are designed for students with a keen interest in the subject, or who are considering a career within the art world. They also can provide the necessary foundation for students who lack a sufficient art history background and are applying to the Postgraduate Diploma and MA programmes at the Institute.

Transfer of credit to other institutions for semester course study at Sotheby’s Institute of Art may be possible. A number of colleges and universities in North America have accepted 16 credits at the undergraduate level and 12 credits at the postgraduate level per semester course, such as those listed below. European students may be eligible to transfer 30 credits per semester course under the European Credit Transfer system. Applicants should confirm with their college or university the feasibility of credit transfer for their studies at Sotheby’s Institute of Art.
