Short Courses in Singapore



Sotheby's Institute of Art - Singapore offers a number of short courses throughout the year. The short courses are specifically for those who have an active interest in art but limited time and are held in conjunction with the Master's degree programme in Art Business. Participants are taught alongside our full-time international students.

Ethics and the Art Market: 11-15 January, 2010

Art Marketing: 1-5 February, 2010

Art Valuation and Investment: 22 - 24 February, 2010

Business Planning and Finance: 8-12 March, 2010

Pre-sessional English Language Course: 31 May - 25 June, 2010

Public Lectures

Course dates are subject to change.

These courses are led by leading experts in the field and run over an intensive five-day week, focusing on various aspects of Art Business. Participants will also be required to commit time to complete preparatory reading prior to the start of the course. In addition, there is the option of completing a written assignment, which will be assessed by the leading lecturer.

These courses offer compelling insights into the art market and include special lectures, seminars and discussions, and guided visits to art galleries and museums in Singapore. All lectures, visits and tickets are included in the fee.

Upon successful completion of each course, participants receive a Certificate of Attendance. If participants choose to complete the assignment for the course, they receive a Certificate of Attendance which states that they have completed the equivalent of 15 credits of the MA in Art Business programme.

The fee for each short course in Art Business is SGD 3,000 (inclusive of GST) with Certificate of Attendance or SGD 5,000 (inclusive of GST) with Certificate of 15 credits awarded upon completion of the optional assignment . The fee covers all lectures, local transport, and admission to art galleries and museums.

The Faculty
The faculty maintains strong links with the international art and business worlds, as demonstrated by the network of industry professionals who visit the Institute as guest speakers to share their insights and experience. In addition to the many commercial art events which take place in Singapore throughout the year which students are encouraged to attend as complimentary to the course, visits are also arranged to dealers, galleries and museum in Singapore.
